Christopher Hawkins - Civil
Plant Operation Apprentice
Christopher Hawkins set his sights on a
career in civil construction when he was a student at Wairoa
College.
He was offered a job at Quality Roading and
Services when he left school and hasn’t looked back.
Three years
on, Christopher completed a Modern
Apprenticeship in Civil Plant Operation, which included National
Certificates in Civil Infrastructure – General Introductory Skills
and Civil Plant Operation.
“I studied hard to complete my assignments, and
now I have the qualifications to prove it”, says Christopher.
“I’ve learned a lot about the construction of roads, drainage
and material, as well as the importance of working safely and doing
the job right first time.
He continues, “I’d like to continue my learning
and progress further in the industry.
When I have a bit more experience I’d like to do a National
Certificate in supervision, and maybe one day start my own business
building roads.”
