National Certificate in Civil Infrastructure (General Introductory Skills) – Level 2*
This qualification provides a range of skills and knowledge to explore various career path options in the infrastructure industry. The qualification provides basic skills and knowledge in first aid, personal and life skills and civil contracting. Elective units provide further skills in civil construction, roading and pavement surfacing, services, driving skills and plant operation.

National Certificate in Civil Construction Works – Level 2*
You will gain the fundamental skills and knowledge to do a wide variety of work in civil construction and maintenance.
The qualification covers a range of core skills and knowledge in health, safety and environment; measurement and numerical skills; and civil plant, civil works and maintenance.
In addition, you can select one or more of ten specialised strands in Concrete Kerb and Channel, Concrete Work, Culverts and Drainage Systems, Interlocking Paving, Retaining Structures, Road Construction, Road Maintenance, Road Safety Barrier, Roadside Amenities and Traffic Signage.

Training Plan

 

National Certificate in Civil Construction Works - Forestry Earthworks – Level 3
You will gain the skills required to operate civil machinery in a forestry environment. You will learn about constructing earthworks, including roads and pipe culvert structures, and using at least one major and several smaller items of civil machinery.

National Certificate in Civil Plant Operation – Level 3*
You will gain the skills and knowledge to operate plant and equipment in the civil construction industry.

The qualification covers core skills in plant and equipment inspection, locating and identifying services, communication on civil construction sites, knowledge of quality assurance requirements, health, safety & environment, first aid and traffic management.
In addition there is a choice of four strands in Culverts and Drainage Systems, Earthworks, Road Construction and Road Maintenance.

Training Plan

 

National Certificate in Civil Plant Operation (Bulk Earthmoving) – Level 3
You will gain skills and knowledge in processes, materials, quality control, work safety and the legal requirements of bulk earthmoving. An elective section covers civil works and services, first aid, driving and the operation of at least three types of civil plant used in bulk earthmoving.

National Certificate in Civil Construction Supervision – Level 4*
You will gain the knowledge and skills required for supervising one or more civil construction sites, in the roles of either foreperson (single site) or supervisor (multi-site).

The qualification covers the core skills and knowledge to coordinate civil construction subcontractors; organise the supply and storage of materials; prepare and maintain records; plan and supervise site drainage and dewatering work; set out levels and positions; liaise with client, consultant, and service authority on behalf of civil construction contractor; understand quality assurance requirements; inspect civil construction plant and equipment.

Two elective sections cover Earthworks, Civil Plant Management, Road Construction and Roading Maintenance; and Health, Safety & Environment, First aid and Temporary Traffic Management.

National Certificate in Civil Plant Management – Level 4
You will gain the skills required to manage plant, equipment and vehicles in the civil construction industry. You will learn about the utilisation of civil construction plant and equipment and be able to prepare maintenance, replacement and costing information.
