Infrastructure Works Sector Qualifications
Wider Industry Feedback
The Infrastructure Works sector qualifications
review commenced with an Infrastructure Sector Consultation Meeting
for all stakeholders on 1-3 May 2012 in Wellington.
As a result of that meeting a draft Workforce Development Plan and
Infrastructure Works Qualification Matrix were developed, a number
of Working Groups established to further develop the strategic
purpose statements, graduate profile outcomes, and graduate pathways
identified at the Sector Consultation Group meeting, and Governance
Group established to oversee the Working Groups outcomes.
Working Groups
Eight Working Groups were initially established for Civil,
Surfacing, Utilities, Rural Contracting, Roadmarking, Civil
Laboratories, Demolitions and Infrastructure Works. Because of the
commonalities across the Civil, Surfacing and Utilities sectors,
these three working groups were combined. The Demolitions Working
Group was cancelled due to difficulties in engaging with the sector.
Thank you to the members of the working groups for their invaluable
input into this part of the review.
Working Groups - Meeting Minutes
Following each working group meeting, a set of minutes was produced
to record the decisions of each working group. The meeting minutes

Next Steps
In 2013, InfraTrain, in conjunction with industry and other
stakeholders, will look at the details of how to achieve the
graduate outcomes. This will include identifying appropriate unit
standards, and/or any licencing/course/experience requirements;
along with programme development.
