qualifications, call 0800 486 626 to arrange for an InfraTrain
regional advisor to complete a Training Plan and Training Agreement.
Utilities qualifications
National Certificate in Civil Construction
Works (Infrastructure Pipelaying) - Level 3
This qualification covers the installation of new
infrastructure pipes, fittings and associated
structures
for sanitary sewage, stormwater, potable
water, gas and cable ducting.
An optional strand in gas distribution pipelaying is
available for pipelayers who wish to meet the New
Zealand Gas Industry's Gas Distribution and Gas
Measurement System Certificate of Competence
required for the Work Type: Construction of Mains
and Services.

Certificate in
Road
Opening (Trenching) - Level 1 or 2 |
|
This National Certificate recognises the knowledge and skills required for working safely and co-operatively at road opening operations for service trenches. This involves opening the surface,
excavating and, once service operations have been completed, backfilling and compacting. The
optional strands represent knowledge and skills for safely and competently carrying out required
work in trenches for electricity supply, gas distribution, and water services.

Certificate in Road
Opening (Site Co-ordination) - Level 3 |
|
This qualification covers a wide range of practical
skills relevant to road opening including notifying the public of operations, liaising with relevant parties, ensuring safe temporary traffic management at the
site, leading and supervising personnel, ensuring legal standards are met and correct procedures, methods and materials are used.
Optional strands in electricity supply, gas distribution, and
water services are also available.

Certificate in Water
Reticulation (Service Person) - Level 3 |
|
This National Certificate is designed for contractors working as a service person in water
reticulation. It covers water and other reticulated services, trenching and trenchless pipe installation,
laying of PVC pipes, working in and exiting a confined space.
Civil plant operation, civil construction
works and occupational health and safety is also
covered.

National Certificate in Water Reticulation (Supervisor) - Level 4
This qualification recognises the skills required to work
in a supervisory role including allocation of
plant,
equipment and vehicles to projects, supervision of
activities on multiple sites, location and
identification of services, and preparation and
maintenance of records. This includes trenching
and trench layout and pipe
jointing systems for water reticulation, water
reticulation asset management, asset risk and asset
maintenance.
The qualification is completed with either a water
or wastewater
strand.
